Denver MMJ Industry Group Back in Business With Wednesday Meeting

The Medical Marijuana Business Alliance – a Colorado-based trade group for the MMJ sector – has been resuscitated after spending a few months on life support. The organization will host its first meeting in months on Wednesday night (Oct. 19) with a “state of the industry” presentation and a lineup of speakers that includes well-known consultant Matt Cook and key members of the Medical Marijuana Enforcement Division, including director Dan Hartman.

A networking event will kick things off at 6 p.m. at Casselman’s Bar & Venue, 2620 Walnut Street, followed by the main presentation at 7 p.m. The meeting is free of charge, but vendors can set up a booth for $250.

The MMBA, as it’s known, held monthly meetings earlier this year before abruptly stopping this summer. leading some people in the industry to wonder if it had folded. The organization’s website still lists a networking mixer from June as its latest event.

The alliance promotes itself as the first business group in the United States dedicated solely to the medical marijuana industry, claiming hundreds of industry professionals as members. Its meetings are tailored specifically to these professionals rather than patients and the general public.

For Wednesday’s meeting, attendees who want to ask questions must submit them in advance using this link or during the event via text message. It promises to be an interesting gathering, given the turmoil in the medical marijuana industry tied to the federal government’s crackdown.
