Clark County Awards 18 Dispensary Licenses

Clark County, Nevada, has awarded 18 licenses to dispensary operators, becoming the first jurisdiction in the state to green-light medical marijuana businesses.

County commissioners chose the 18 from a final pool of 79 applicants. Each applicant group was given six minutes to present its business idea before county commissioners during a three-day hearing, which concluded Friday morning.

  1. It looks like the people with money are going to make more. Too bad the little guy gets it in the shorts again.

  2. No surprise that the politically and financially connected were rewarded licenses. I see Medmen on that list, which isn’t a surprise either, but I wonder if he was also able to secure licenses for any of his clients. Probably not. Probably used their money to get his. Shock! Not.

  3. I don’t know why it matters to people that deep pocketed business’s are going to be the ones who get to set up shop. Rightfully so IMO.

  4. Not surprising that the licensees are all people that have big dollars and so like in the rest of history they get richer. Not that any of them would have admitted to use before its legality. Just buy off another elected official is the norm.

There is a significant amount of land in Clark County that is zoned Agricultural. Inexplicably this zoning was not included as suitable, and in fact, the present regulations forbid it’s use to “grow” the crop marijuana. There was interest from entities presently growing fruit and vegetables to use their expertise and their already prepared and watered land to cultivate marijuana, but by the time they were informed their zoning had been ignored, it was too late to lodge a complaint, or an inquiry. The question begs to be asked, “Are the persons responsible for drafting the marijuana zoning regulations just ignorant…or are they venial”.

no, common the little guy can benefit too…He has less of the tax burden.

yes, but the connections that the deep pocketed peeps have; will help the industry get off the ground faster.
